Sedation Dentistry

Did you know there is a way to feel completely comfortable at any dental visit? Many patients avoid their dentist at all costs due to dental fears. If this is you, you’re not alone! Whether you have trouble sitting still, have had bad dental experiences in the past or get anxiety any time you step in a dental office, sedation dentistry may be the perfect solution for you! Sedation dentistry has completely improved the dental experience for many patients and allowed them to get the dental care that they need within a time that works for them. We love to help our patients tackle their fears and work toward their dental goals. Sedation dentistry could really make the difference for your smile!

At North Tarrant Dental Care and Orthodontics, we are pleased to have a Level 3 Sedation Certification! This allows us to offer all three types of sedation dentistry: oral sedation, nitrous sedation and IV sedation. If you are interested in sedation and live in the Fort Worth, TX area, we offer a free sedation consultation. Visit our office and discuss your sedation options without spending a dime!

Oral Sedation

Prior to your appointment, oral sedation is administered through a pill. Oral sedation begins to work quickly to help you feel relaxed. Once your visit begins, you should feel comfortable and free from anxiety. Oral sedation allows you to be conscious but you will not be bothered by sounds or treatment.

Nitrous Sedation

A facial mask is used with nitrous sedation to administer nitrous oxide and oxygen. Nitrous sedation helps you feel comfortable and works right away. If needed, you can respond to your dentist throughout your visit. The nitrous sedation works during your entire appointment and will start to fade as soon as your mask is removed. Nitrous sedation is a good option for adults and children.

IV Sedation

IV sedation is one of the forms of sedation that is best for lengthy visits. Your dentist can accomplish a lot of dental work when you use IV sedation. With the help of our trained doctors, an IV is carefully placed and sedation is given through the IV. The level of sedation can be raised or lowered during your treatment as needed. As a result of this sedation, you will most likely remember little to nothing about your visit. With IV sedation, a driver will need to give you a ride once your visit is over.
